Are there ways to avoid getting tapeworm before it develops?
Question by liz360: Are there ways to avoid getting tapeworm before it develops?
I ate sushi at a friends house yesterday and I am suspecting the fish wasn’t properly treated. I’m very paranoid that I will get tapeworm but it’s too early to tell and I don’t want to wait to find out. Are there any preemptive ways of getting rid of a tapeworm before it develops in your system? Any foods you should eat or avoid?

Tapeworms are long, segmented worms of the class Cestoda. They are parasitic worms that require a host to reach sexual maturity. About 8 species use human hosts, with Taenia solium being the most common. Tapeworms usually require one or more intermediate hosts and human fecal contamination is also needed to sustain their life cycle.
—————————-
How to avoid Tapeworm:
1. Wash hands thoroughly with warm soap and water after using the toilet and before handling food. This is the single most important part of preventing tapeworm infections because tapeworms are spread through a fecal-oral route.
2. Take additional precautions while traveling, especially to areas where tapeworm infections are endemic. Drink only bottled water if possible. Otherwise, water should be boiled for 1 minute before drinking. Raw fruits and vegetables should be washed with clean water.
3. Dispose of human feces properly. The exposure of animals, especially livestock to human feces contaminated with tapeworm must be eliminated in order to break the life cycle. De-worm pets and livestock regularly and prevent them from being bitten by infected fleas.
4. Cook meat thoroughly so that the center reaches a temperature of more than 150 degrees. Pigs are the intermediate hosts for Taenia solium, also known as the pork tapeworm. Freeze meat and fish for at least 12 hours to kill tapeworm cysts and 24 hours to kill larva.
5. Use anthelmintic drugs as a prophylaxis in some cases, especially in endemic areas.

Q&A: do you need to see a nutritionist before getting a lipo?
Question by Jack: do you need to see a nutritionist before getting a lipo?
We were wondering since we heard that people has to try to lose weight before liposuction and stay eating and exercising really healthy after. Do doctors make you go to a nutritionist, or is your choice? Or jsut some doctors do it?

Answer by Dr. Hall
Here in Scottsdale, Arizona I have a lipo specialty clinic, Arizona Lipo, where that is all I focus on. With that being said here is my insight on liposuction. Tumescent Liposuction or “Liposculpture” cannot be used as a remedy for obesity, poor eating habits/lifestyle or as a method for weight loss but lipo can help you shape your body into a more desired figure and give you that boost of self confidence to live a healthy lifestyle after your lipo procedure.
For a lot of patients the results achieved with lipo cannot be achieved with dieting and exercise alone. Liposuction offers a solution for those “problem areas”. You are born with a predetermined number of fat cells in each area of your body, there is no variation, and there is no replication of remaining cells or re-growth of cells or migration of cells to the area, so once they are gone with lipo – they are gone! If there is dramatic weight gain after the lipo procedure, it will most likely be gained elsewhere in the body where the fat cells are most densely populated, not where the lipo procedure was performed. For example, if the client has fat removed with lipo from the outer and inner thigh area, then it is very possible that he/she might gain weight around the hips, buttocks, abdomen or stomach.
After working with some of pioneers in Liposuction and mastering my lipo technique on a few thousand patients of my own, I have noticed a consistent result a high level of satisfaction and overwhelming number of happy faces and cases.
Hope this information helps!

when you start exercising, how many days before you start visibly losing weight?
Question by ekbensah: when you start exercising, how many days before you start visibly losing weight?
I started exercising more vigorously, and seriously cutting on fatty foods, and eating in between meals. My lunch is very small. Every morning, I ride the exercise bike to the point of exhaustion, skip twenty times; do 20 sit-ups and then walk my dog in the evening. Yet my weight is STILL the same of Day Four of my weight loss programme. Why?

A DIET IS WHAT YOU EAT….there for we are all on a diet….
THINK LIFESTYLE CHANGE
You got the change the way you think and feel about food
TRY THIS, and stick to it.
The first 3-4 weeks are the hardest until your body adjusts to the change.
Results will be in about the same time
Fruits and Veggies
Eat more plants and keep away from stuff that was made in plants.
Don’t eat anything that comes in a can, box or package….
…..THEY HAVE ADDITIVES IN THEM THAT MAKE YOU ADDICTED TO THE FOOD…..
If man made it, don’t eat it
NO white BREAD or SUGAR
NO FRIED FOOD…
Stay away from FAST FOOD
Walk your dog, or walk a friends dog
Don’t think of it as a diet, but think of it as a lifestyle change
I have lost 25.5 pounds in 2 months, drink lots of water. I usually eat a meal of what ever I want once a week….controlled portion….this really works………
Write down every thing you eat
Take a multi vitamin at night

your diet is the key thing… exercise just helps keep you fit. just eat nothing but fruits and veggies(its really not that hard) for a while to cleanse your system and then you can incorporate some lean chicken or something like that (no bbq sauce or other condiment…and no skin on the chicken and dont fry it) google the hallelujah diet and give it a try…you’ve got nothing to lose but weight!
good luck. hoped this helped

Dexot before a weight loss or fitness plan?
Question by SunnyD: Dexot before a weight loss or fitness plan?
An employee at GNC told me that it’s a good idea to detox before a weight loss or fitness plan. He said it cleanses the body and and you can loss weight faster. Is this true?

Answer by Phil
A detox will cleanse your body and make it more likely for you to stick with a diet because you are less likely to develop cravings. But it won’t make the diet work more efficiently beyond the mental state.
