Question by Cookie: Is the Internet allowed at an eating disorder treatment clinic?
Can you use it, is there even Internet to access??
Are you allowed your mobile??
What’s it actually like??
Answer by ♥Kazz♥
I can answer your question in part…
I went to a psychiatric hospital for a 3 week stay but I was there to come off benzos not for an eating disorder – however some were there for over eating and others because they didnt eat enough many were there for drug or alcohol withdrawl – a mixture really..
Anyway a number of people took their laptops with them – personally I also took a mobile internet dongle thingie that plugs into your computer and gives you internet access so I had the internet with me – they do take your mobile off you as soon as you walk in the door.
I said earlier I can answer your question in part and this is why – I wasnt there for eating disorder so I can tell you how I found it but it might be very different to how you find it… I did see people having to report everything they ate but thats the most of what I saw on that side of things… Every day your expected to go to group sessions – for us this was in the morning and went for an hour to an hour and a half and then the shift nurse would catch up with you each day and every couple of days or so your admitting Dr (for me my psychiatrist – I have Bipolar disorder) would come and visit to see how your going and for me adjust meds etc. I found the other patients for the most part quite easy to get along with – some annoyed me – some were pathological liars and it wasnt hard to work it out (one guy told us all about his 20 room mansion and his 22 foot yaught etc etc found out he lived in his mothers garage (you get the picture) and I found myself a small group that I got along with quite well. Other than that your time is yours… where I was we were expected to change our own linen each day, we took ourselves off to get food at meal times – if you forgot or didnt bother – too bad you didnt eat …. after a few days to a week if your Dr feels your ok you are allowed access to leave the hospital for a set amount of hours per day – for me it started at 1 hour and then went up to 3 hours per day, this gave you breathing space from the hospital…. at set times of the day they would do meds – for this you had to line up at a window and have your meds given to you – you would take them there and then in front of the nurse.
I also found the few weeks off or away from my life quite relaxing and good for me – Im a single parent and it was the first rest Ive had in years. Would I go back?? Yes I would if I felt I needed to (OH I should mention I went to a private hospital not public and I checked myself in I wasnt forced in) I also had a private room and bathroom – every patient also had a lockable locker in their room to keep money or valuables safe (there was theiving that went on if your stuff wasnt locked up)
Anyway I hope Ive answered your questions – good luck – its not as bad as you might feel it could be – I know I was nervous the first day or so – after that I just settled in quite easly)
Bronnii (under me) pointed out something I forgot – we also were not allowed to plug in our own appliances – I took with me a DVD player – and ipod charger and the laptop – all the cables were taken away from me to be tested before I was allowed to use them – they were brought back the next day with a sticker on them stating they were tested as safe

What’s an easy way to lose 20 pounds? I don’t have the money to go join a weight clinic and I don’t want to?
Question by Professor Bradley: What’s an easy way to lose 20 pounds? I don’t have the money to go join a weight clinic and I don’t want to?
buy any pills as they have been unsuccessful and costly. I know it will take a couple of months to lose the wight. Please offer me advice, no pills. Should I consume so many calories a day? What would be the ideal diet? I like to swim but I can’t right now due to the cold weather and lack of membership to a gym. Thanks!

Austin TX medical weight loss centers abound. With so many clinic choices how do you know which physician and medical staff is best for you? Do you look at the weight loss reviews? Can you make your decision off of what obese people say? What about the perceived high cost? I’d argue that your health is most important and to do everything in your power to get command of it. So it’s your duty to explore all available options. Reviews – www.yelp.com www.youtube.com Can you trust a quick weight loss center? It seem very nice to think a doctor can make a quick incision or arthroscopic procedure, suck out the fat, and life’s hunky dory again. But physicians can’t change your eating habits. HCG injections for weight loss, stomach staples, tummy tucks, gastric bypass and other procedures may give you the jumpstart you need. But they don’t get you the whole way there. They’re a quick rubber stamp (or stomach staple) as a beginning. There are often lots of conflicting weight loss program reviews. Some women just didn’t like their clinic doctor. Maybe the bedside manner wasn’t connecting with her. Who knows? But to achieve medical weight loss and keep the pounds off you have to follow the diet plan that works best for you. Even if it’s not the healthiest diet know to man if you follow it and it’s an upgrade over your previous eating habits then you’re on your way. HCG weight loss programs are getting lots of press and advertising right now. But from people I’ve talked to it’s very …
